Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and commentary anchor for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up within New York City, Mitchell received a degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976 she became a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She joined NBC News Washington two years following that as an general reporter. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. She became Chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell is a regular as a guest on TV news show Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell was on an audience for the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her contribution in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both the terms of President Ronald Reagan. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news issues, such as the arms control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
