Kim Delaney was an American actress. She is most famous because of her part as Detective Diane Russell, in the ABC drama series NYPD Blue. For this she was awarded the Emmy Award. She has also starred in shows like All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the child of an executive at the United Auto Workers who was also a mother. Delaney has four older brothers. As a child, Delaney fantasized of being a reporter for the court. She began modelling at the age of 14 and later landed commercial opportunities when she relocated to New York. Her first appearance as an actor was as a young girl in the 1981 soap opera All My Children. Delaney is a well-known actress, appearing featured in a variety of television shows, and dramas. In contrast to her impressive professional career, Delaney's personal life is not successful and happy. The skilled actor had to battle alcoholism, and has had two divorces. In 2005, the actress was denied the custody of her son.
